Urban Land Scapes Project was a series of site-specific dances, art and video installations, and live music created for urban environments in Palm Beach County. In collaboration with Demetrius Klein of Klein Dance Company and John Watts of 2Watts Production, the project re-examined forgotten and underutilized urban spaces, drawing attention to how they could be made beautiful and useful again. Artist Lucy Keshavarz and Demetrius Klein identified local spaces and organized programming. Lucy also created the Urban Exotics installation that adapted to each new space. They used a “guerrilla art” philosophy where spaces were set up, performances took place, and everything was broken down within six hours or less. Other than a portable dance floor, everyday equipment such as flood lights or car lights were used during performances. Funding for Urban Land Scapes was provided by The Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties and the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. Performances took place in downtown West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach, Lake Worth, Pahokee, and Boynton Beach.
