Old Dixie EcoWalk at Seabourn Cove is an ecological art project that creates an urban forest on one quarter of a mile by fifty foot utility easement with over 60 species of Florida native plants interwoven with art elements that highlight native butterfly species. The public art elements are interspersed along the pathway and include: five large rock sculptures, five small rock sculptures, five educational panels on large rock bases, fifty-five custom plant IDs on small rock bases, three butterfly watering basins and 80 butterfly outlines stamped into the concrete sidewalk. Artist Lucy Keshavarz worked in collaboration with the developer, scientists Mary R. Truglio and Jaret C. Daniels, landscape architect Dave Bodker and the City of Boynton Beach on this project.
Seabourn Cove, a luxury rental community in Boynton Beach, is located on Old Dixie Highway two blocks north of Gulfstream Blvd. in Boynton Beach. Materials used include eight custom concrete butterfly stamps, Florida cap rock boulders, custom plant ID tiles, and HDL interpretive panels with educational messaging. The project was commissioned by FM Contract Services, LLC, the developer of Seabourn Cove.
