ACG was chosen as the arts consultant by the City of Kissimmee Community Redevelopment Agency to facilitate the AIPP process through selection of artist(s). The CRA and City were going through a $25 million Lakefront Park renovation and wanted to include Public Art. At the time, the City of Kissimmee did not have an ordinance, programming or committee in place in support of Public Art or the process. An ad hoc structure had to be put in place and an artist selected by the end of September to stay on schedule with the park renovations. Ms. Keshavarz role included but was not limited to:
• Educate City and CRA staff, and the design built team about public art and together, assess the needs of the park site and programming.
• Work with Gail Hamilton, CRA Director to develop an Ad hoc Art in Public Places Committee.
• Present a Public Art workshop for newly formed Art in Public Places Committee, elected officials and select members of the design build team.
• Develop call to artists and work with City IT department to develop website support.
• Review over 120 artist submittal packages and prepare for selection process
• Go through selection process with AIPP Committee to choose three artist finalists
• Arrange and lead mandatory site visit by artist finalist
• Receive artist’s model and set up display in City Hall for community input
• Arrange and lead presentation by Artist finalist and facilitate selection of one Artist’s proposal
